The Black Church Is Not Monolithic
Half of my family, as iave mentioned maywood to you earlier, comes from a progressive church of god in christ. My uncle james was, was an elder in that church for forty four years, sat out the entire civil rights movement. Even when martin king came to chicago in 19 66, he wouldn't even come to town,. To be involved in the civilriht movement would pull him out of that pursuit. I, on the other hand, was totally, completely, thoroughly in gait. But i loved them deeply and dearly.
