'The Dog's Point Was Proved
The village if northumberland, where i grew up, has now been without electricity for 12 days. No heat, no light, no access to the news. But northern powr grid have laid on efficient chip van by the village hall between five and six p m. I was at home up north when arwin hit with four octogenarians, five if you count the spectral presence of my late godmother - whom we'd gathered to remember. As it turned we were in the actual epicentre of the storm. After forty eight hours of cold and dark, my mam, my aunt and i fled south. There are lessons from arwin for any victims of barra.
