Before the handover Hong Kong was simply this glaring vestige of us very shameful colonial past, right? That it was a reminder of this humiliation that China had undergone because of its own weakness since the mid 19th century. And there is this sense that its return in 97 was the writing of this longstanding historical wrong. So they believe that Beijing has made a good faith effort to maintain that level of political,. They don't go deeper. But of course there's, there's a lot of selection bias going on.
