I was diagnosed with cervical cancer a couple of years ago. I ended up having some quite radical surgery, and they took out all my pelvic lymph nodes. And I have lived for demon hours as a result of the operation. During that entire process I then went on to make a documentary about this for the BBC. It's the thing I'm most proud of that I've ever made. We're not giving people truly informed consent if we don't take into account their individual risk factors," he says.
