Lennon says that orthodox marxism can never be orthodox, because it's always going to have to be reactionary. He argues against the idea that one transitions from rebellion to revolution. Every revolutionary ends by becoming either an oppressor or a heritan. In purely historical universe they have chosen police rule or insanity. Therefore, history alone offers no hope of freedom and progress.
