Theology as an Academic Discipline
Scottish theology has its own idiosyncratic avenue of inquiry, it's a response to particular something distinct which is the self-revelation of God. I try and use that to help students see that wherever they would land within this massive thing that is the university in all of its you know diversity of expertise and so on. Wherever they go what they should expect to find is people who will use different terms they'll have in-house language that you will have to learn. They will have idiosyncratic forms of logic that they follow and that have been developed not on their own but by whole industry of people who've come before.
