While residents of his capital are unable to get basic services available in much poorer countries, Reeves has withheld Jackson Water Repair funds. In 2011, while engaged in a battle for the lieutenant governor's seat, Reeves was pressured by the ongoing Tea Party movement to explain why he had approved money for bond projects as a member of the state bond commission. He explained that he wasn't approving every bond project. There were many that didn't even get to the approval stage because he simply didn't take up issues.
