The Brain Is Predictive
Neil Postman argued that we are training our brains to just bounce from one thing to the next. He noted this first happened on cable news with the weather where you would hear about some terrible murder or some tragedy and then it would bounce to the weatherman wearing a clown suit because winter's funny. And if Neil Postman was alive today, I think he would really think that we're fucked.
