Pyreus was an important trading center in the Mediterranean. The most valuable Athenian material export was silver from their minds at Laryon. Their other exports included olives, olive oil, wine, marble and honey. They exported only manufactured goods that they exported were pottery and armor. Money now had entirely displaced more primitive standards of valuation.
