The Johnsons and the Bell Farm
Author Van Buren Ingram says the family and their guests engaged in the customary Jesus ritual before going to bed. After everyone went to bed sure enough as if on cue the entity ran through its menu of harassment with the scratching, gnawing lip smacking and bed cover pulling. By morning Mr. Johnson had only decided one thing. The phenomenon was beyond his comprehension. It was evidently preternatural or supernatural of an intelligent character. He arrived at this conclusion from the fact that it ceased action when spoken to and certainly understood language.
