Kristen Andrews was one of a group of philosophers who wrote an Amicus brief, which made the case for releasing Tommy. The argument is based on the reasoning that Tommy is a person. In medieval Europe, it was not uncommon for animals that killed a child to be brought in front of a court and tried for their crime.
