What Happened During the Pandemic?
The number of unfilled jobs spiked by about 4 million when the shortfall of worker from trend dropped. Of that 4 million shortfall, as best I can figure out, about a million is immigration that didn't happen during those years. COVID deaths did not contribute to the shortfall as much as one might think because COVID deaths were skewed to such older age groups. The overwhelming majority of missing people look to be older former workers and people besides the men without work.
