The last the penultimate chapter, the one right before the last, is a question and answer chronicle of what is happening in his head. "I don't think it's like here's a bleak picture of humanity, or here's a great picture of humanity," he says. Bloom is kind of an old creep. His wife is certainly a lecher. And so even as you feel like this sort of unraveling, it's it is the return that matters. It's not just that. You can look at all the negative parts, but there are wonderful things that he does.
