The Historical Nervousness About Gains for People With Disabilities

I think that there is a well founded and historically informed skepticism of parents telling stories about raising a child's ability. Parents have also been the ones to institutionalize their disabled children right so they haven't been the most trustworthy of allies historically. But more parents are seeking out input from people with disabilities to make help them make decisions about raising their child. And then more parents are open to learning American Sign Language or least recognize that there's a thing called the deaf community and deaf culture.
