Are Pathological Liars More Common in Some Professions Than Others?

There is a stereotype of dishonest politicians with George Santos being a very extreme example right now, although not the only one. In sales and in politics, it's very difficult to be entirely honest and effectively do one's job. People who go into politics don't seem to be any less honest typically than people in the general population. But what we see is that politicians who lie more are much more likely to be reelected.
