The History of Macedonia and Achia
South moesia was the cradle of greek civilization, now called macedonia and achaea. It was conquered by the romans during the third macedonian war in one forty six b c. The exhausted greeks were forced to give up their independence and accept foreign rule out of respect for the ancient civilization they had just defeated. Macedonia was obviously harder hit by the last war than the cities around the peloponnese. But with the construction of the via ignatia, a major roman road from durachium to the hellespont, it rode its booming business back to prominence. Achia tried to hold on to its independence more forcefuly
