The Role of Machine Learning in Predicting Rogue Waves

Do you think we'll ever be able to predict rogue waves? In the same way that people aspire to predict tornadoes or earthquakes, this is a tricky business. I think there are two levels of prediction here, right? One is predicting environments in which their probability is increased. That level we can probably get to and we're making some progress based on our understanding of the field data. The other type of prediction where we are at one location and we sort of have a live prediction in one or two seconds will be hit by a wave or indeed, that's very difficult.
