Even if you flipped a switch and changed both issues, the polarization issue would not change. i think that whatever natural degree of polar ation that we have in our system has cano been put on steroids by the influence of social media. And so thin, to some extent, polarization is just a natural state of american politics. You can go back to previous eras, and we were polarized on the issue of slavery.
