The History of Afghanistan

Afghanistan as a unit which resembles the modern nation state really exists from the time of Ahmad Shah Durani. The man who stole the Kowinor Diamond from India, was Nadir Shah, who raided Delhi in 1739. His main bodyguard was a man called Ahmad Shah and allegedly Nadir Shah fished him out of the dungeons of Kandahar. And on the night of Nadir Shah's assassination, at least according to Ahmad ShahDurani's own account, he protected the women of the Hari with his life.
