i didn't know if i should even try, you kow, to force a politic on to france. Is is always in a very fraught territory when one tries to apply modern categories to mediaeval people. However, there is a long political history that attempts to wrestle with saint francis in a political context. The famous marxis, for example, karl kotsky wrote an essay about saint francis. And francis also outwardly opposed personal capital accumulation, money itself and private property o which our sort of proto socialist proto communist ideals were based.
