For many astronauts, their time in space was something that left them emotionally disconnected, depressed, disillusioned, and blew. And we don't hear about that because they didn't want to risk the program. Buzz Aldrin's book, Return to Earth, he talks about how this darkness impinged on his life. He basically discovered there was a huge country mile wide self destructive streak that ran down the center of his soul.
