What Are the Duties of a Port Commissioner?
In California, the ports are associated directly with the city somewhat tangently. They're independently run, but they do have a some type alignment with the specific city. I think it's fairly unique to have elected commissioners. But in most cases, they're appointed,. The justification behind that was since we do have our own independent taxing authority, they wanted to make sure that we were accountable to tax paying voters, right? Right.
