John Avlon: I think your book offers a way to bridge some of our disfunction, some of our current split in ways of thinking about the economy. He says there never has been a time where free market existed apart from some form of government rules. Avlon: What is the role of the state in what is called to day industrial policy? You seem to suggest that the state should have an important role in the same policy. The last republic i made, i think, is more than a hundred years ago. And the city doesn't work well.
