The poor are much more likely to have a much greater degree of inflammation in the body, which is associated with diabetes and heart disease. The kind of unhealthy foods that the poor are forced to eat can lead to a fair amount of visceral adiposity even if they appear to be thin from the outside. Even otherwise, routine health services do not really reach the poor inadequate numbers for timely diagnosis. And therefore, even diabetes doesn't get detected or detected very late when it has already reached the stage of complications.
