Dependency theorists see the economy of certain countries being conditioned by development processes elsewhere. South korea is a successful case of development in many ways, that we can understand using dependency research programme. So for example, looking at how capitalism developed in a certain way in south caree under japanese colonialism was different from how african countries experienced it.
