The Consequences of Descartes's Confession

Descartes's theological position is premised on monotheism. This vision of the universe as orchestrated by an infinite mind, and thus a universe in which intelligence precedes all. De cartes's perspective implies the cogito from the very start. Cogito ergosom did not lead descartes to his beliefs about the mind. Instead, his belief about the mind led him to assert the cogito. The distrust of the worldly sense, experience and appeal to reason as their sovereign should not surprise us. From a religion that integrates the body, its functions and desires, while exalting the soul.
