A young Chinese man named Cho Dagwan has just arrived in Angkor. He is a diplomat as the kingdom is an important trading partner of China. By now Angkor is one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world. But its temples and palaces are not built with the same quality as neighboring Angkor Wat. As time passes, the bayon sags under its own weight. Its carvings suffer from erosion in the monsoon rains. The entire population of Angkor was at one point required to fight against invaders from a neighboring kingdom of Siam,. It is now Thailand.
