There was a record $71 billion of share buybacks in the last financial year. The money they're returning to investors through sell-offs and dividends is not good enough, says Fitch. But that seems to be changing and there's a lot of push for reform in Japan. "I think this whole idea of giving value back to shareholders is a big departure for Japan," he adds.
