The Politics of Dare

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation funded dare to the tune of, I think it was like 15 or 40 million in the 90s as all this bad research was coming out. They were very clear about the fact that, look, we know this doesn't work, but dare has an unparalleled structure. The districts are already convinced if you started a program from scratch, you'd have to go district to district trying to get it rolled out. So instead of doing it for 10 weeks, let's do it for seven years. That will really help kids do it.
