The Problem With String Theory and the Multiverse

We think it can't be infinitely old, because it would run down by now. If time itself began with the Big Bang then formation of universe from nothing becomes a mystery. Whether you choose string theory or the multiverse to explain the fine-tuning of the universe, you're still stuck in the theoretical realm. We currently have no experimental support to prove that either theory is correct. But if we could verify them, that would obviously help to solve the problem.
