The germans had adopted the soviet method of par trooper operation. This required par troopers to climb out of the inside of the plane, on to the roof of the plane and walk down its wings then jump off. The parachutes themselves were hilariously un even for the 19 forties. And another small matter with heir paratrooper operations: they would have to slow down quite a bit to do this, making them an easy target for anti aircraft fire.
