Moonraker - The Last Effects
The last effect of Moonraker was completed in the middle of May 1979 and that was running really close to the wire as well. The premiere took place in the UK in on the 26th of June 1979 with a wide release around the country just three days later. By the time Moonraker had finished its theatrical run around the world it had become United Artists highest grossing film of all time. It knocked a little film called Alien off the top of the US box office when it opened with $7 million that weekend of June 29 July the first 1979.
