The Effects of Trauma on the Nervous System
Our brains are constantly taking in every experience we have and cataloging it. And so if you've had an experience that shunt a stun you or shocks you is too overwhelming to the system, the body will first try to do either fleeing. If you can't fight or flight your way out of a situation, then you will drop down into what's called immobilization. All energy and all focus is now on how do I survive this experience? That's huge.
