Gardner: Grades are very good at measuring what they're supposed to measure. A course that you take in college is actually a pretty good proxy for like sort of a standard, intellectually demanding knowledge work type project that you might face in the real world. So people take grades seriously for that purpose. But then again, it's still going to be better to have done the good projects, some good coding, like show that you can build projects and still have just destroyed your classes.
