At Amazon, employees were tasked with finding ways to make their current job obsolete. He says the company made a calculation that it was worth bringing on 2,000 "rock stars" and cutting fat off of its 1,000-strong workforce. But he says this meant dehumanizing people who had to do brainless tasks for lower wages.
