The Importance of Reframing Habits
Social psychology is inclined to think that we're very much more sensitive to our situations than we realize. That is through developing habits of reflection, which lead you to recognize that we are in fact terribly sensitive to those sorts of things. We can use this information not probably by changing our habits because our habits are going to be very situationally sensitive. But by bringing our rational capacities more to bear in those cases where we know that we're susceptible to these situational variables.
