Can I Understand the British Accent?

If you don't need the british accent, then just focus on american english. Just try at movies. Try to find a lot of british stuff and listen to it for a while. It's not you'll get used to it. It takes a little time. But if you already understand the American accent, well, i think that you can understand british pretty easily.
