Baraleo's Tristan and Isolda

The piece is in three parts with seven movements, features vocal soloists and a chorus. Baraleo's called it a choral symphony, but he knew it was difficult. The opening has an Italianesque clarity to it that reminds me of a very eccentric or slightly crazed piece of Vivaldi or Scarlatti. At the premiere of the work, Wagner was present and he was overwhelmed.
