Is There Justification in Evolutionary Biology for Adaptive Strategies?
Self deception has its advantages, even as an adaptive strategy. The unfortunate problem seems to be that the long term consequences of that are often not good. And i think the idea that it can serve deception as a handmaiden is a powerful idea, but it doesn't look like it's an optimal strategy. If there were an optima strategy, why isn't everybody adapting, adopting it?
