I was really struck by looking at these engagement projects about how, as you say, it becomes possible to recognize certain communities, but not others. And those communities that are easy to recognize and proximal to the value systems of the authorized archival discourse become the central occupation of community engagement. Communities which cannot do not want to conform to that proximity to those kinds of values don't share those same kinds of solidarities. I saw that as potentially being indicative of these value systems kind of coming into tension that I had observed in earlier parts of the research.
