The Uncertainty in the Air
Lufthansa has partnered with German refineries to produce different types of renewable jet fuels. United has set up its own United Airlines Ventures Sustainable Flight Fund, which has gathered up more than $100 million in investments from companies like Air Canada and Boeing. Price remains a prohibitive barrier to the wide adoption of renewable fuels in the aviation industry. But there's still a lot of work to be done and a lot of promises that still need to be sorted out before it can say we're definitely green.
