The Stigma of Affirmative Action in India
Despite stigma and prejudice, a lot of the beneficiaries of reservation programms in india face. Is it that affirmative action can bridge this gap, or break the link with the self-fulfilling prophecy? Or is the way to read the work that for certain groups, in particular, daletadevases in india, the disadvantages due to historical oppression are just so great that a stigma is not going to be the relevant hurdle that keeps them behind. The benefit of getting out of their traditional occupations is too big to be deterred by some kind of stigma prejudice.
