The Madresa of Cairo

The exterior of the madrasa is very much an embellished, beautiful facade with lots of ornament. So we can think of him as an architectural patron who's very important. But what we also have to remember is that he's a patron of the city. Has a city. And i do believe that it is not due only to him. It is in this period that the city starts to take on a character more than just its walls and enclosures. When you're walking through the city, you are aware that this is a grand space. This is not somebody's little village. This is a major, monumental space. That's what he makes of cairo.
