Star faithful was last seen alive on June 5, 1931. Four men claimed to have seen her that night but all backed off their claims after seeing the body. Her family sold their side of the story for $800 - about $14,000 in today's money. The Great Depression had decimated their finances and they were looking for any way to make money.
