In 2006 tech editor James Kim and his wife Kati, and their two young daughters are on their way home from Portland, Oregon. After they missed a turn off, they followed what looked like a shortcut on their map. They didn't know the area well, so they trusted their map navigation. And after driving for a bit they noticed the road up ahead was blocked by snow,. By that point they were already in too deep. Their car got stuck when they tried backing it up. So they decided to spend the cold night in the car as the snow kept piling up around them. When they woke up the next morning the entire car had been surrounded by deep snow. Several days went by
