Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama is putting a permanent hold on all military executive nominations. This includes promotions, which normally go through the Senate by unanimous consent. It's an effective political tactic from Tuberville, but it's certainly not optimal for things like our military readiness and that sort of thing.
