When our acceptance is based on how well we perform, then we are in constant fear of rejection. The old covenant way of remaining in relationship with god was by keeping the law. Lloyd says that you don't really have to know god or love god to keep the rules. This new covenant was established by the perfect sacrifice of christ for our sins.
