Cantner had moved around a bit between Northern and Southern California. He was friendly with two other musicians on the Californian folk scene. Marty Bailey approached them to form a band, he agreed. On drums they brought in Jerry Pellequin who now worked as an optician. On vocals they brought in Signetoli, who would soon marry and change her name to Signet Anderson. They also needed lead guitarist though, both Bailey and Cantner were decent with players and singers but they needed someone who was a better instrumentalist. Yama Kalkonnen was someone who was seriously into what would now be called Americana or Roots Music.
