i wondered if i could ask you about an aspect of that that has struck me when i hear contemporary non indigenous people talking about the use of paoti. I mean, on the one hand, they are in some sense part of the common legacy of all humans. And in another sense, they're very specifically connected to particular cultures which have suffered from destruction. So i struggled with this cause. There's a cultural appropriation issue, and there's a material appropriation issue as well. But again, people draw these lines in very different places. Native americans do.
