How to Stop a Supernova From Collapsing
At some point the star gives up because it's burnt most of its fuel. Its cores become very, very heavy and is filled with things that it can no longer fuse. Depending on the size of the star, this collapse generally triggers a super nova. A huge chunk of the stuff that used to be the star is now spread out into a new nebula. The remnant can either be a white dwarf, or a neutron star or a black hole depending on the ma of the original star.
